Petition Drive
Each referendum drive involves obtaining a specific number of signatures on a professionally drafted petition and submitting those petitions through the court system for certification. Thereafter, the question will appear on the local ballot giving voting residents of the community the option of either accepting or rejecting the proposal. The Berwyn Resident Independence Coalition. Why? BRIC addresses the need for two important changes in local government. |
Referendum One:
A Change To Transparent Government One referendum seeks to replace inherently corrupt political control of your tax dollars with professional transparent independent business management. This is referred to as an Independent City Manager Referendum or the Council-Manager referendum. The advantages of Council-Manager government are discussed extensively on the home page. If the referendum passes, the days of under-the-table and back-room-deals are gone forever. Referendum Two:
It is referred to as a Non-Partisan Elections Referendum. There is nothing less American than having to"declare your allegiance to a party" in order to vote in an election. This is what partisan primaries are all about. You have to tell the politicians how you are going to vote before you can vote. They want to keep track of you. Your vote is a public record available to all politicians. Non-partisanship re-focuses elections on the issues rather than affiliation to a political party. Non-partisanship restores meaning to the idea of privacy in the voting booth and the traditional "secret ballot". |
